Club Facilities

PTTA Inside Club

The Payneham Table Tennis Academy Inc. is a spacious, air-conditioned building with a well-maintained wooden floor and a range of quality facilities to add to the skills development and comfort of its members.

The building houses six high quality table tennis tables available for practising and competition match play, five of which are separately enclosed within the main playing area. The other table is situated in an area which can be partitioned off and used by members who wish to practice using the Academy’s robotic ball feeding machine.

The well-equipped kitchen consists of tea and coffee making facilities, a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster oven, and a sandwich press which can all be used by members to prepare refreshments as needed. The adjoining relaxation area comprises tables, chairs and a television set, and is used by members to consume refreshments, watch television when not playing, and generally to relax.

Training aids, including the ball feeding robot, table tennis videos, and coaching assistance from experienced players, are also available to the members of the Academy.

Notes from the Committee

In 2006 the Academy won the prestigeous Be Active Sport and Recreation Industry Award for Community Physical Activity Initiative. This Award is for an innovation that increases opportunities for participation in sport, active recreation or fitness by the wider community. The award was presented to our Academy at a dinner held at AAMI Stadium. The Payneham Table Tennis Academy Inc. won from over 200 entrants.

The Academy currently has approximately 300 members and is in a sound financial situation.

Volunteers

The Payneham Table Tennis Academy Inc. relies on a nucleus of volunteers for the smooth running of the Academy. The Committee, Sessions’ Group Leaders, coaching, maintenance of the facilities, fund raising, publicity, are all undertaken by a dedicated group of volunteers. Without their dedication and generosity, the club could not function.

Any member who would like to volunteer is encouraged to speak to any Committee Member or Group Leader for an overview of volunteering at the Academy. Thank-you for volunteering.

Parking

The Payneham Table Tennis Academy Inc. has enjoyed a long and supportive relationship with the local council for over 60 years. We value the continued support of the Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council (NPSP) and are thankful for access to the facilities.

It is important to realise that the Clubrooms are situated in a residential area and we share the car park with residents and others attending the adjacent park.

There is one designated Handicap Priority Parking, if you do not have a permit then don’t park there. The Club has several members who qualify to use this park, and we ask that their priority be respected. For members using this car space we ask that the Permit is clearly displayed. Adjacent to this space is a designated NO Park zone, marked clearly with yellow angles lines in the space, in front of the pathway to the Clubrooms.  Again DO NOT park in this space, as it can double as a second Handicap Priority car park. The signage is very clear.  Likewise at each end of the car there are bollards and the space in front of these are NOT car park spaces.

The side roads around the Club have clearly marked yellow lines – please respect these and DO NOT park over the yellow lines or in front of  the residents driveway.  If the Council is called you will be fined and it is your responsibility, and the fine is not cheap (last we heard $119).

As the Club is open seven days and nights we ask AT ALL TIMES when arriving or leaving the Club you keep the noise to a minimum and respect our neighbours.  It is important that the Club blends seamlessly into the local community with minimal impact on everyone.
